Rackmount NAS is a network-attached storage appliance built in a rack chassis, so it mounts alongside switches and servers in the same cabinet instead of sitting on a shelf like a desktop NAS. This rack format is the usual choice for server rooms, branch offices and system integration projects where the storage layer has to share the same power, cabling and management environment as the rest of the network.
